Drug Uses

Minipress is used for treating high blood pressure or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How Taken

Use Minipress as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

Take Minipress by mouth with or without food.
If you miss a dose of Minipress , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Minipress .

Drug Class and Mechanism

Minipress is an alpha-blocker. It works by causing the blood vessels and the muscles around the urethra (the tube leading out of the bladder) to relax. This helps to lower blood pressure and to improve urinary symptoms associated with enlargement of the prostate (BPH).

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the medicine at the next regularly scheduled time. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

Storage

Store this medicine at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light.
